Workshop 2014

The 3nd HPI-lab Workshop will take place on November 27-30th 2014 again in Hradisko near Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Czech Republic. The main themes of the event will be related to infection diseases common for both great apes and humans. The workshop will attend up to 40 participants including experts in parasitology, virology, entomology, primatology, genetic, anthropology etc.), and it will be held in English. The workshop will be financially supported by the grant project of the HPI-lab funded by the programme "Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme" (ECOP 2.3).

The invited speakers will be Dr. Alex K. Piel (Division of Biological Anthropology, University of Cambridge, UK), Dr. Kathryn Shutt (Fauna & Fauna International, Cambridge, UK), Dr. Nikki Tagg (ZOO Antwerpen, Belgium), and Dr. Jana Petrášová (UVPS Brno, CR).

Workshop 2013

The 2nd HPI-lab Workshop was held on November 14-17th in Pension Hradisko, Czech Republic. Participants included researches and PhD students of the Parasitology and Virology department of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Brno (VFU), the collaborative Department of Parasitology of Charles University, Prague, and Institute of Parasitology at Biology Centre ASCR, České Budějovice as well as keynote speakers of various disciplines and institutions. The aim of the workshop was to overview outcomes, progresses and future plans of HPI Lab projects as well as integrating all ongoing research projects into the HPI Lab’s mission. Furthermore, it provided a framework for establishing current and future collaborations with invited speakers and their affiliated institutions.

Workshop 2012

The 1st HPI-lab Workshop took place on November 2-4th 2012 in Penzion Pod Drátníkem Blatiny in the Czech Republic. The three-day event focused on the themes related to infection diseases common for both great apes and humans. The multidisciplinary workshop attended 35 participants (parasitologists, virologists, entomologists, primatologists, geneticists, anthropologists etc.), and it was held in English. The workshop was financially supported by the grant project of the HPI-lab funded by the programme “Education for Competitiveness Operational Programme” (ECOP 2.3).

The keynote speakers of the workshop invited from abroad were Dr. Maria Joana Ferreira da Silva from Cardiff University, UK and Kim Gruetzmacher from Robert Koch Institute, Germany. From domestic keynote speakers, the lectures were given by Julius Lukeš from Institute of parasitology BC ASCR, Pavla Smejkalová from Charles University in Prague and two scientists from UPVS, Kateřina Albrechtová a Jana Petrášová.
